I don't know what they all mean off the top of my head, but usually you can find out by just googling the acronym. Digital means that they are only on/off (3.3V or 0V) and can't be continuously varied like an analog pin.Īll of the other acronyms refer to special functions on certain pins.

Here are the really basic things you need to know:ĥV means a pin that always supplies 5 volts (it can't be turned on and off).ģ.3V means a pin that always supplies 3.3 volts (it can't be turned on and off). Pin 1 is the only pin with a square solder pad, which may only be visible from the underside of your Pi. It also doesn't look like it's been updated for the model B+ yet. Pinout depicts pin 1 in the top left corner. The wiki has a whole page about the GPIO pins, but IMO the language is a little difficult to understand for beginners.
